Each of them specializes in certain manipulations and thoroughly knows the peculiarities of their direction. A visit to one doctor to solve all problems has not been relevant for a long time. Dentists, depending on the direction of their work, are divided into such specialists:
- The dentist is the main dentist, from whom the initial examination begins. He treats tooth decay, pulpitis, periodontitis, root canals. When other diseases are detected, he gives direction and recommendations to another specialist.
- Dental surgeon – performs operations, in case of periodontitis he cleans the mouth, removes teeth and cysts, installs implants.

- Implantologist. Due to the rapid development of implantology, a separate dentist-implantologist appeared. He performs the same functions as a dentist-surgeon and orthopedic dentist: he works on the restoration of lost teeth by implanting implants into the bone tissue of the jaw with subsequent prosthetics.
- Dentist orthodontist specializes in the wrong bite and position of teeth. For this purpose, he sets up mouthpieces, plates, trayers and braces.
- Periodontal dentist is engaged in the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease. He performs gum surgeries and professional hygienic cleaning of the oral cavity.
Pediatric dentist – knows the peculiarities of the development of the oral cavity of children and treats diseases in patients from the first year of life until adulthood, gives recommendations to parents for the care of milk teeth, monitors the correctness of the bite and the location of teeth. If necessary, refers to a narrow specialist.
